Songbird, you have sun your last song.
Forty years ago, the Siena Heights University (SHU) student run literary journal, “Eclipse”, was born. Currently, “Eclipse” is being published ever year. However in 2008, production stopped. Thanks to a literature and art appreciating group of students and faculty, it was powered back to life.
The newest edition, “Eclipse: The Phoenix Edition,” is a double issue, 200 plus page edition available for purchase on Oct. 5th 2013, at the “Eclipse” release party in the Dominican Hall Auditorium.
Majestic, yes, but you sing the same songs to many others.
Eclipse” features poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art, and performing arts pieces. The production team includes students from all different majors. Mark Jones, Harper Suiler, Sarah Eitel, Sonia Elizondo, Steven Robinson, Maggie Lepsy, Nathan Wilkerson, Zach Hiser, and Jeff Conolly are the production editors. Katelyn Boultyn is poetry editor. Alexander Weinstein is the faculty advisor with Erin Russell as editor in chief.
Last year, the team went through 40 years of “Eclipse” pieces for the newly released, “Phoenix Edition.” This year, the “Eclipse” team is also launching an online website. The community will be able to send videos of music, performances, and scripts to be viewed by others. It will also showcase the top fiction, poetry, and art pieces in the new issue.
You swoop in and out of my life, singing, expecting me to listen.
“Eclipse” lets the community celebrate creativity. Editor in chief, Erin Russell comments, “Our goal is to help spread appreciation for the works of local writers, poets, artists and musicians who often go unheard.”
The official” Eclipse” release party will be Oct. 5th 2013 in the Dominican Hall Auditorium and is open to the community.
Atrocious songbird, I could listen all day.
I could listen all night.
