Siena Heights Teams with The Daily Bread

Although the 18th annual Siena Heights Food Drive has come to an end, there are still a variety of ways in which individuals can still donate to The Daily Bread of Lenawee.

Since 2004, Jeffery Lindstrom, a Psychology professor at Siena, has assisted in orchestrating these food drives. Although he does not take much of the credit, he explained that all of the ideas for each food drive have been student-generated.

His Social Psychology students are organized into small groups with each group developing a theme for a food drive. The class will then discuss and pick ideas that they believe will create the best food drive.

All of the food donations collected are given to The Daily Bread of Lenawee. The Daily Bread of Lenawee’s soup kitchen serves hot meals five days a week and is the only agency in town that serves many individuals. Although they do not have a budget to purchase food for the pantry and food to support the soup kitchen, therefore the nonprofit can only operate their food pantry through donations.

This year’s food drive may have come to an end, but The Bread of Lenawee is always excepting cash or food donations as the organization relies on these donations. People can directly drop off these donations to The Daily Breed of Lenawee or cash donations can be made directly from their website.

Those who live on campus, it would be easier for students to drop off donations directly to Professor Lindstrom, as he stays in contact with The Daily Breed year-round.
