RECIPE: Apple Cake
This week I knew that I’d have to make something with apples in it. Because, well it is fall, and apples are everywhere. So, I looked in some recipe books, and now here we are. In a church recipe book, I found the perfect apple cake recipe. And I have tried this recipe before, and it is delicious with some vanilla ice cream or whip cream.
Preheat: 350 F
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 ½ cups of vegetable oil
2 eggs
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of vanilla
3 cups chopped apples
1 cup of walnuts
Powdered sugar for the top.
Steps:
In a Bundt pan, cover it in Pam spray, and then cover it in flour (lightly). Make sure that you get the center and that the flour is evenly dispersed. If you do not do this, when you flip the pan over when it is done, it won’t come out whole.
Cut and peel apples.
- Mix sugars and oil in a bowl. Add eggs one by one, and then vanilla and salt.
- In another bowl, put your baking soda, flour, and cinnamon.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients.
- Add in apples and walnuts.
- The batter will be thick, and that is normal. After this, put batter into pan and bake for 50-60 minutes. Or until the toothpick is clean.
- Let cool. I let it cool overnight to be safe that it is 100% cool.
- Take a knife or a spoon and scrap the edges and middle of the pan. When you flip the pan, on the top, you might see some flour if you put too much; but I like to cover it in powdered sugar to cover it up.
- And eat with some vanilla ice cream or whip cream and you are done!
