American Interiors Executive Designer, Charity Hogrefe, met with Siena Heights University (SHU) President Sister Peg Albert, Lee Johnson, senior vice president for business and finance, and Michael Orlando, dean of students, Monday, April 22, 2013, to finalize furniture selections for the new McLaughlin University Center.
Prior to this meeting, Orlando met with SHU Student Government to get their input. Not only were students excited about the new space, but they also agreed having a centralized location on campus for the students will make it easier to connect with them.
Eric Gilbert, President of Student Programing Resident Hall Coalition (SPARHC), commented, “We are excited about the nicely furnished living room that will work well for large groups and performances. This will provide the right space to catch our audience.”
The new McLaughlin Center will be quite impressive when the doors are finally open fall 2013. Throughout the building, the furniture will be in the school colors of blue and gold, along with bright accents of orange, green, beige and turquoise. A striped pattern will be on some of the couches and chairs to tie in different colors. Amber laminate table tops will give an elegant look to the living room and lounge areas.
