Day in the Life of: Garret Young
Garret Young is currently a senior at Siena University and his track season was ruined because of the coronavirus.
Young said his days used to be very busy, and now he basically just sits around doing one of five things: eating, sleeping, working, working out and doing homework. He said his life has changed a lot, as he used to get up at 6:30 a.m. to start his day, and now he gets up around 10 and goes to work around noon.
Young is also an out-of state-student-athlete from California and he was not able to go home since he works on campus for the Department of Public Safety. Young said he is pretty bored for the most part because he is one of the few students who still live on campus.
He works from 10 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. After work, heeats dinner then goes for a two-mile run around the campus. After his jog, he goes to his room and takes a nap then does homework from around 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., then goes to sleep and does the same thing the next day.
Young works weekdays and is normally off on the weekends. On the weekends he goes to the grocery store to buy groceries for the week and puts gas in his car from time to time. He also doesn’t like the fact that he has to wear gloves and a mask every time he leaves the house.
Sometimes when Young said he is “super bored,” he often goes on long walks around Adrian just to kill time.
He also has a girlfriend that goes to Spring Arbor University and comes over every other weekend. However, due to the pandemic there is not much for the two of them to do besides staying in the room and watch movies all day.
Young like most people has been practicing social distancing when he goes out, but he said he is also excited for the virus to be over so things can go back to normal.
