Day in the Life of: Kyla Birchmeier
This is the day in the life of Siena Height Nursing student Kyla Birchmeier.
Birchmeier shared what she does throughout the day. Due to the fact that school has shut down because of the coronavirus, she basically just talked through her typical Wednesday before classes went virtual.
Birchmeier is from Clinton, Mich. She was a two-sport athlete in high school, playing both softball and bowling.
She was all-state in bowling and bowled an average of 180, which is very good as she only bowled for two years. Since Birchmeier does not play any sports at Siena, she still finds ways to stay active. She currently works in residence life as a Resident Assistant.
Here is how a typical Wednesday for Kyla looks like:
6 a.m. – She wakes up and takes a shower and gets her clothes ready for the day.
7:10 a.m. – She and a friend walk to the UC to grab a quick breakfast from the SHU Shop
7:30 a.m. – They leave for their 8 a.m. class.
8 a.m. – Class to 11 a.m.
11 a.m. – Kyla and some of her friends grab a quick lunch because she has to get ready for a lab that begins at noon
Noon-2 p.m. – Lab class
2:15 p.m. – She is officially done with class and uses her free time to do homework and chill.
5:30 p.m. – After her homework is done and her nap is over, she goes to the office to grab her radio and then comes back to her room to do some extra studying.
7 p.m. – She typically grabs a flex meal for dinner.
7:10-9 p.m. – She sits in the Residence Life office and assists any students who come in.
10 p.m. – She is back in her room and starts to unwind and she puts on her favorite television show “The Office,” until she falls asleep. She is on-call for Residence Life until midnight.
Midnight – She can now “radio off” and go to bed. She will be called via cell phone if needed.
