Saints Shoot Past Saint Thomas
Siena Heights 79, Saint Thomas (Fla.) 52: The Siena Heights women’s basketball team competed against Saint Thomas on Dec. 1, the Fieldhouse. The Saints improved to 8-1 on the season.
The Saints had an early 8-1 lead, then later the Bobcats came back with an 8-0 run that gave them the lead of 11-10. The second quarter came along and the Saints dominated it by outscoring the Bobcats 19-4. Siena had two runs of 8-2 and 9-0 in the third quarter ending at 59-35.
For Siena, Demi Russell shot 9 of 12 from the floor and double-double in the win with 20 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two assists, a steal and a block to help with the win for the Saints. Kiana Votava helped the Saints with 13 points, three rebounds and four assists.
Overall, the team went 34-62 from the field with a field goal percentage of 54.8 percent. They also had 48 rebounds, 22 assists and 20 turnovers on the game.
For the Bobcats, Samaria August led the team with 14 points. She also had one steal and four rebounds which two of them were offensive and two were defensive. Keiana Brooks had a total of 11 points, three assists, three rebounds, and a steal in the loss.
Overall as a team, the Bobcats shot 20-66 from the field with field goal percentage of 30.3 percent. They also had total of 29 rebounds, seven assists and 15 turnovers in the loss against the Saints.
