Centennial Edition: Centennial Torch Relay
Siena Heights University kicked off the celebration of their 100th year with a bright start. The Saints started the celebration with torch relay that spanned the length of the entire state of Michigan that was showcased by the Alliance Catholic Credit Union event. It was held on Aug. 19-26.
The entire route of the relay spanned a total distance of 342 miles in which the participants rode from “coast to coast” where the riders carried a custom-made torch during the running, or legs, portion of the relay.
Each day of the relay consisted of several celebration held at the different locations of Siena Heights University. These locations included Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Mich.; Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Kalamazoo, Mich.; Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Mich.; Jackson College in Jackson, Mich.; Lansing Community College in Lansing, Mich.; Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Mich., Southfield, Mich.; and finally, Monroe County Community College in Monroe, Mich.
The start of relay was set at the location in Benton Harbor and moved eastbound, hitting every other location along the way until the torch arrived at the final destination: the main campus. The final day of the relay ended at the main campus of Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich. Once the torch arrived at the main campus, the official start of the 100th year anniversary celebration began.
