Another Overtime Victory for Women’s Soccer
The Siena Heights Saints women’s soccer team played a nail-biting game against Madonna University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), on Saturday afternoon. The Saints came away with a 3-2 win when senior Julia Stancato had the game-winning goal which was a result of a penalty kick.
The Crusaders had 13 total shots; four of those were on goal. Junior Rachel Rubio and Grace Thomas had the only two goals for the Crusaders. Redshirt sophomore Megan Verant led the Crusaders with three shots on goal.
For the Saints, senior Julia Stancato had two goals and three shots in the win over the Crusaders. Freshman Ashley Strong also came away with a goal for the Saints in the beginning of the game. The Saints had a total of seven shots; five of those were on goal.
The Saints’ record is now 7-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the WHAC.
The Saints will face Michigan-Dearborn at home for another WHAC matchup on Oct. 9.
