Saints Win Opener of WHAC Tournament
The Saints men’s basketball team hosted Rochester College to start the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament. There was a lot of energy in the gym as the Saints earned a 75-70 win to advance to the next round.
Fans stood on their feet nearly the whole game. Rochester came out with a 10-2 lead over the Saints in the beginning of the first half.
Midway through the first half, Rochester went on a 5-0 run to make it a 28-20 lead with just seven minutes left in the half. Rochester went into the half with a seven point lead.
The Saints came out hot in the beginning of the second half, going on a 12-0 run, with the energy coming from DeMarco Dickerson. Rochester was unable to make any free throws, giving the Saints opportunities to capitalize.
Rochester went on a 11-0 run giving them a 64-50 lead with just five minutes left to play. Kevin Smith hit a 3-pointer, to spark the comeback.
Rochester scored to tie things up at 64, then the Saints went on a 7-0 run to help them get the win.
