Saints Sports Roundup: Week Two
Men’s Basketball
On Jan. 20, the Saints (11-9) hosted the University of Northwestern Ohio (6-16) and won an overtime thriller, 85-78. Keith Jordan Jr. played a phenomenal game with 33 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Saints. Kevin Smith had 19 points, with eight of them coming in overtime.
On Jan. 23, the Saints (12-9) traveled to the University of Michigan-Dearborn (8-15) and defeated the Wolverines 71-63. Josh Winowiecki led the Saints with 21 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Teammate DeMarco Dickerson had 18 points and six assists. The Saints shot 48 percent from the field on 50 attempts. The Saints will look to extend their lead to three wins as they take on Aquinas at home.
Women’s Basketball
The Saints (17-5) hosted the University of Northwestern Ohio (8-14) on Jan. 20, and won 71-63. Kiana Votava shot 6 of 8 from the floor, and half of the attempts came from beyond the arc, where she was able to convert on 75 percent of them. She also added five rebounds and three assists to her stat line. Alyssa Larson hauled in six rebounds to lead the team and scored 12 points coming off the bench.
On Jan. 23, the Saints (17-6) traveled to the University of Michigan- Dearborn (19-4) and lost, 65-50. Alyssa Larson had a double-double, posting 16 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, which is a team high for the season in rebounds. The Saints hauled in 43 boards in comparison to the Wolverines’ 32. The Saints will look to bounce back Jan. 26 as they take on Aquinas at home.
Men’s Volleyball
On Jan. 23, the Saints (4-1) hosted the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech (3-4) and defeated them in four sets. Alex Garavalia was all over the court, leading with 13 kills and five blocks in the contest. Emilier De Jesus led the defense with a game-high 14 digs. The Saints had a total of seven blocks and six aces. The Saints will host Aquinas on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m..
