Saints Sports Roundup: Week 10
November 1
Women’s Soccer VS. Indiana Tech. (WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal.) W 4-2.
The Saints were able to hold off Indiana Tech to earn the 4-2 victory in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Quarterfinal. Scoring the first three goals to earn a hat trick for SHU was Samantha Bartelotti. Scoring the fourth and final goal for the Saints was Julia Stancato off an assist from Paige Rachut. Earning the win in net for SHU was Taylor Hill. Hill allowed two goals while making four saves in the winning effort.
Women’s Volleyball VS. Aquinas. L 3-0.
The Saints were unable to handle Aquinas as they lost the first three sets by scores of; 25-18, 25-16 and 25-12 to drop the match by a score of 3-0. Leading the Saints with 10.5 points and 10 kills was Christine Tylutki. Amanda Metz led SHU with 23 aces while Gabby Kalugar led with 27 digs. Elizabeth Breton had the lone block for the Saints.
November 4
Men’s Bowling @ Adrian College Open.
The Saints scored a pin fall 6371 (3597 in the team games, and 2777 during the Baker games) to end the tournament 280 pins and earn a fifth place finish. Leading the Saints with an average of 200.25 for four games to finish fourth and make the All-Tournament Team was Steven Cadwell. Placing 20th with a 178.25 average was Keith Reid. Round out the scoring for SHU was Joshua Criscenti who placed 30th, Mitchell Rusinek who placed 40th, Travis Marcus who placed 56th, Patrick Mulqueen who placed 69th, Shane Rusinek who placed 70th, and lastly, Ryan Freeman who placed 73rd.
Men’s Cross Country @ WHAC Conference Championships.
The Saints finished in 2:12:25 earning a 26:28 five-person average and 115 points to earn fifth place. Leading the way for the Saints was Esrom Woldemichael. Woldemichael finished in seventh place and earned First Team All-Conference honors after finishing with a time of 25:52. The next finisher for SHU was Anthony Vermilye. Vermilye crossed the line at 26:25. Jareb Duggan and Liam Heaney finished at 26:29 and 26:47 finishing 21st and 24th, respectively. The final finisher for SHU was Bradley Bauer with a time of 26:50 to take 34th place.

The Saints ran a five-person time of 1:39:48 to earn an average of 19:57, 140 points and a fifth place finish. Leading the way for the Saints was Ashley Russo. Russo finished in seventh place and earned First Team All-Conference honors after finishing with a time of 18:32. The next finisher for SHU was Patricia Santos-Buitrago at 19:38 to earn 21st place. Megan Rosales and Anna Buist crossed the line at 20:12 and 20:33 to earn 33rd and 36th, respectively.
Women’s Bowling @ Adrian College Open.
The Saints scored a pin fall 6259 (3385 in the team games, and 2874 during the Baker games) to earn first place at the Adrian College Open. Leading the Saints was Olivia Cabildo and Tryna Gladstone with averages of 181.50 and 180.75, respectively. Taylor Thomas tied for 11th place with a 175.50 average while Kassandra Costello had a 174 average to earn 36th place. Rounding out the scoring for SHU was Tiffany Paraventi in 45th place, Courtney Herron in 64th and Taylor Villasurda in 66th place.
Women’s Soccer @ Madonna. (WHAC Tournament Semi-Final.) W 2-1.
The Saints were able to prevent a Madonna comeback and hang on for a 2-1 victory in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament Semi-Finals. Getting the Saints on the board first was Samantha Bartelotti after she tapped in a rebound. Scoring the game-winner for SHU was Julia Stancato after finding the back of the net with a shot from the left corner of the box. Earning the win in net for the Saints was Meghan Bogg. Bogg allowed one goal while making nine saves in the winning effort.
Football @ Lindenwood-Belleville. W 48-0.
The Saints had no problem going to Lindenwood-Belleville as they earned a 48-0 shutout victory on the road. The Saints used three quarterbacks in the game; Ryan Brennan, Garrett Schaller and Lucas Barner Jr. Brennan went 11-14 for 166 yards and two passing touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Schaller went 6-6 passing for 80 yards to go with a touchdown. Barner Jr. completed 7-8 passes for 40 yards. Leading SHU running backs was D’Aries Davis with 18 carries for 132 yards and a touchdown. Also earning a rushing touchdown was Ronnie Giles Jr. Davis also led the team with three catches for 85 yards. Catching touchdowns for the Saints was Mitch Meger and Dawan Smith II. Brady Tanguay connected on all six of his PAT attempts while also making both of his field goal attempts, the longest being a 40-yarder. Leading the Saints defensively with four tackles was Nick Stalworth and Andrew Loria. Stalworth and Otis Doss forced fumbles while Griffin Sobol hauled in an interception for SHU.
