Saints Sports Roundup: Week 3
January 25
Men’s Basketball @ Cornerstone. L 63-76.
The Saints lost a conference matchup as they fell 63-76 to Cornerstone. Leading the team with 18 points was senior Jerrell Martin. Tony Jackson added 12 points while leading the team with seven assists and two blocks. Chris Pearl contributed 11 points while leading the team with 10 rebounds and two blocks.
Women’s Basketball VS. Cornerstone. W 73-50.
The Saints cruised to a convincing 73-50 victory over Cornerstone in a conference matchup. Leading the team was April Watson with 35 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Clara Waidley contributed 12 points. Azalea Miller lead the team with five assists.
January 27
Men’s Volleyball @ Campbellsville (Ky.) W 3-0.
John Kalugar led the team with 10.5 points. Tyler Hubbard-Neil led with eight kills. Keegan Crawford led the team with 41 assists. Matthew Dugan led the team with 13 digs. Emilier DeJesus led the team with four service aces while contributing 11 digs.
Men’s Track & Field @ Trine
John Gillingham finished in fourth place in the 200m dash with a time of 23.41 seconds. Kyler VanWormer and William Jackson took third and fifth in the 800m dash with times of 2:01.23 and 2:01.74, respectively. Juwan Willis placed fourth place in the high jump with a jump of 6’6.” Jared Kimmett, Joshua Jenkins, and Devante Johnson took first, third, and fifth place in the pole vault with vaults of 14’9”, 13’11.25” and 13’5.25” respectively. Robert Drew and Michael March took third and fourth place in the weight throw with throws of 50’10.75” and 50’3.25” respectively.

Asia Gardner took third in the 60m dash with a time of 7.69 seconds. Katie Figueras placed fifth in the mile with a time of 5:37.24. Alejandra Beltran and Madeline Auth placed second and fourth in the 3200m dash with times of 11:32.38 and 1137.84 respectively. Morgan Kulwicki placed third in high jump with a height of 5’1.” Olivia Ryktarayk and Taylor Sumner took first and second in the pole vault with vaults of 10’11.75” and 10’6” respectively. Mildrenae Young-Brooks took first place in the long jump with a jump of 17’2” while also taking first in the triple jump with a jump of 35’10.”
January 28
Woman’s Bowling @ #3 and #4 AHIBC.
On day one, Tiffany Logan led the Saints with a total pin-fall of 901 and a high game was a 200. She finished 22nd out of 163 bowlers. Olivia Cabildo finished with an 848 pin fall and high game of 187 to finish 49th. On day two, Tiffany Logan finished 10th with a pin fall of 795 and high game of 224. Tanishia Townsend placed 19th with a pin fall of 773 and high game of 225. Kassandra Costello placed 20th with pin fall of 763 and high game of 224. As a team, the Saints finished 10th on both days.
Men’s Bowling @ #3 and #4 AHIBC.
On day one, Zachary Colosimo placed 61st out of 272 bowlers. Colosimo had a total pin fall of 919 and a high game of 226. Steven Caldwell placed 69th with a total pin fall of 900. On day two, Caldwell placed 19th with a pin fall of 817 and high game of 219. Colosimo placed 61st with a pin fall of 743. As a team, the Saints finished 18th on day one and 19th on day two.
Men’s Volleyball VS St. Andrews (N.C.) W 3-1.
The Saints won the two matches 26-24, 25-14 while dropping the next match 28-30, to then come back and win the final match 25-22 to win 3-1. Matthew Dugan led the team with 23 kills, 13 digs and 24.5 points. Keegan Crawford led with 41 assists.
Men’s Volleyball @ Campbellsville (Ky.) W 3-0.
The Saints swept all the matches as they won 25-14, 25-17 and 25-20 as they won 3-0 to advance to 5-0 on the season. Matthew Dugan led the team with 14 kills and 14 points while also contributing 12 digs. Emilier DeJesus led with 14 digs. Keegan Crawford led the team with 31 assists.
Women’s Basketball @ Lawrence Tech. L 65-75 OT.
The Saints lost a toughed one on the road as they blew a lead late in the fourth quarter and got outscored 2-12 in overtime. April Watson led the team with 18 points, 14 rebounds, 6 blocks and three assists. Jaaliyah Arrington contributed 14 points and eight boards. Azalea Miller and Avery Chezem both tallied three assists.
Men’s Basketball @ Lawrence Tech. W 76-74 OT.
The Saints blew a lead late in the second half but were able to hang on and outscore Lawrence Tech 9-7 to walk away with a 76-74 overtime victory on the road. Leading the team with 17 points apiece were Jerrell Martin and Nick Randle. Martin also led the team three blocks. Josh Winowiecki contributed 12 points off the bench. Chris Pearl added 11 points and two blocks. Randle and Tony Jackson both tallied three assists. Trevor Holston lead the team with nine rebounds.
Men’s Track & Field @ GVSU
The Saints finished in 5th place with 43.66 points. Ryan Dukes placed third in the 600m dash with a time of 1:22.61. Brent Rodden won the 800m dash with a time of 1:51.99. Anthony Vermilye placed fifth in the mile with a time of 4:14.79. The teams 4X4 relay squad placed fifth with a time of 3:19.61. Devante Johnson and Jared Kimmett placed fourth and fifth in the pole vault with vaults of 15’7.25” and 15’1.5” respectively. Jacob Compagner placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 58’7.5”

The Saints finished in 5th place with 50.75 points. Asia Gardner took fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.84 seconds while placing third in the 200m dash with a time of 25.11 seconds. Alexis Moore placed fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.24 seconds. Brianna Pekel placed third in the 600m dash with a time of 1:37.33. Marissa Johnson won the high jump with a height of 5’2.25.” Tasha McKinley placed third in pole vault with a vault of 12’3.5.” Mildrenae Young-Brooks placed fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 35’9.5.”

Cheer and Dance
Cheer placed in fifth place with 74.93 points. During the dance routine, an injury cut the team down to five athletes, eliminating them from competition.
