Men’s Soccer Beats Point Park 3-1
A team effort put the Saints on top against Point Park on Saturday with a score of 3-1.
“That’s a good team and we frustrated them, they are a talented bunch, but the boys really stuck together,” said Saints head coach Aldo Zid.
Six minutes into the game, freshman Chris Ornelas scored, and two minutes later, Point Park attempted to respond, but was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper Leo Hisamatsu.
Twenty-five minutes into the game, junior Elmedin Celovic scored with an assist from Ornelas. Five minutes later junior Luis Miguel Anaya added another off a fast break to put the Saints up 3-0.
Four minutes later, Point Park’s Roberto Whitley scored off an assist from Rejep Mukhammedov to set the score for the rest of the game at 3-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Leo Hisamatsu finished with three saves.
“Our organization was good. Adherence to the game plan was good,” Zid said about his team’s performance, “We really took them out of their game plan.”
He said the team has high expectations for the future, but they know there is always room for improvement.
“Season is looking good. The way we were playing, if we keep playing that way I think we will do well. We just need more goals, that is it. Everyone is improving and that’s a plus,” junior Rabhar Khan said.
