Saints Host NAIA Cheer and Dance East Regional

The Saints Cheer and Dance teams hosted the NAIA East Regional last weekend in hopes of repeating and improving from their success in last year’s competition.

In the prelims of the Regional meet, the Saints’ dance team edged out Lindenwood-Belleville for runner-up with a score of 94.333, trailing only Calumet Saint Joseph heading into the finals. In the finals, the Saint upped their performance with a score of 97.667 and maintained second place falling to Calumet in the final as they walked away with a score of 101.67.

In individual competition, the Saints had Lauren Fultz and Madeline Soave both honored as All-American performers. This is now the second year in a row for Soave earning All-American status, while Fultz is a first-timer of the prestigious honor. The Saints also were able to have Lauren Nowak honored with All-American honorable mention status.

The Saints’ Cheer team also took part in the East Regional this past weekend. In preliminary competition, the Saints placed fourth behind Concordia, Lindenwood-Belleville, and Lourdes. The Saints scored 83.633 in the prelims but were able to boost their score in the finals. With a score of 84.7 in the finals, they were able to surpass Lourdes who fell with a score 83.6 from third place to fourth, allowing the Saints to finish top three overall.
